A24 presents a new trailer for The Witch director’s The Lighthouse

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It has barely been a month since A24 released the first trailer for THE WITCH director Robert Eggers' THE LIGHTHOUSE and now a new trailer has already come along to promote the film's October release.

Starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, THE LIGHTHOUSE was written by Robert Eggers and Max Eggers, and it's a film that's shrouded in mystery for those of us that didn't catch its screenings in Cannes or Toronto. The synopsis doesn't provide much information:

From Robert Eggers, the visionary filmmaker behind modern horror masterpiece The Witch, comes this hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.

One thing that the trailers have made very clear is that THE LIGHTHOUSE is going to be incredible to look at, as it boasts some old school black and white cinematography courtesy of Jarin Blaschke. The movie was shot in a 1.19 : 1 aspect ratio, on black and white 35mm film, using equipment from the 1920s and '40s.

Produced by Rodrigo Teixeira, Jan Van Hoy, Youree Henley, and Lourenço Sant’ Anna, THE LIGHTHOUSE is set to reach theatres on October 18th.
