Here’s a movie that I really can’t wait to see, Julie Taymor’s musical, ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. And here’s a brand new picture from the movie, courtesy of MTV. Apparently in the picture, the two leads (Evan Rachel Wood and Jim Sturgess) are singing “It Won’t Be Long” and “I’ve Just Seen A Face” respectively. If you’ve been keeping track with developments on this flick, I’m sure you’ll have heard of all the creative wrangling; let’s hope that it doesn’t damage the flick (or that we’ll at least get a good look at Taymor’s original vision on a Director’s Cut DVD), because the thing looks really different. ACROSS THE UNIVERSE is a fictional love story set in the 1960s about a dock worker (Sturgess) who travels to America to find his estranged father. While there, he falls in love with a sheltered American teenager and I guess, sings a load of Beatles’ songs and gets high.
