Amy Adams has signed on to star in the upcoming indie drama DAUGHTER OF THE QUEEN OF SHEBA. The film is based on the biography of Jacki Lyden, a reporter for NPR who memoired about growing up with her mother’s delusions during bouts with bipolar disorder. The title of the book comes from a particular episode when her mother threw a tea party thinking she was the Queen of Sheba. The film was originally set up at Paramount with Reese Witherspoon and Meryl Streep attached to star but that iteration fell through and is now being developed independently. While Adams will take over for Witherspoon, it’s unclear whether Streep, who co-stars with Adams in the upcoming films DOUBT and JULIE AND JULIA, could be coaxed into returning. Besides those aforementioned films, Adams has a number of projects on the way including NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2 and SUNSHINE CLEANING.
