Fans of the HBO series ENTOURAGE should already understand what goes into getting a movie made as they witnessed Vince and his crew endure the ups and downs of the Hollywood system for eight seasons. But, now there is some real life drama holding up the long in development feature film take on the show. Creator Mark Wahlberg was recently asked by the paparazzi about the film’s status and he answered with this:

“As soon as them guys stop being so greedy.”

Everyone has assumed that is a reference to the cast of the film including Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and Kevin Connolly. In response to this, Grenier has taken to the avenue that all stars take when trying to set the record straight: Instagram. Instead of making you read the oddly designed image, here is the transcription of Grenier’s statement courtesy of Cinema Blend:

“To all Entourage fans. I owe it to you to make a couple things clear. I take my role as Vince on the show & off very seriously. All decisions I make personally & for business are for the principle of friendship and brotherhood. It has, & never will be about the money for me. I promise. I will always stand up for the boys (that includes you) & do what I can to make sure they are treated fairly, and not be taken advantage of by anybody. The spirit of Entourage is about sharing the opportunities given to us and I will sign any deal that gives ALL the boys an opportunity to share in the upside of success EQUALLY. I assure you, despite the perception, there is no greed in my heart. Remember, it will all work out in the end. It always does. —— I will try to answer questions with hashtag #entourageboysshare”

Of the cast of ENTOURAGE, only Jeremy Piven has achieved a consistent level of work in film with the rest of the cast appearing here and there. ENTOURAGE is sure to do well at the box office, but with as much layoff as there has been (two years) since the finale, there may be only the hardcore fans waiting for the film. That being the case, HBO may be hedging their bets and not ponying up the dough for the actors.

Wahlberg’s comment may be one of frustration but the fact that he voiced it at all could escalate this process. In the end, do you really want to see an ENTOURAGE movie that badly or have you already moved on?
