Another Friday has arrived, and that means it's time to gather the latest additions to our JoBlo Horror YouTube channel (check it out and subscribe HERE) together in one place. It's the AITH HORROR VIDEOS OF THE WEEK!

This week we dug into GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH with a new episode of our series WTF HAPPENED TO THIS HORROR MOVIE?, added writer/director Dominic Grose's THE DRAWING to our horror short film showcase, took a look back at the Sylvester Stallone action slasher COBRA for the BEST HORROR MOVIE YOU NEVER SAW series, and covered the CHILD'S PLAY remake for THE KILL COUNTER. All of these videos can be seen below.

GREMLINS 2 – WTF Happened to this Horror Movie

What happens when a studio has a massive blockbuster and is so desperate for a sequel that they give the director a massive budget and complete creative control free from studio interference? Sometimes, if you're lucky, you get a movie like Joe Dante's GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH, which, despite being a box office flop when it came out thirty years ago, is now regarded as a cult classic, even if many fans don't consider it quite in the same league as the original. So join us as we try to figure WTF Happened to GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH!

This show's M.O. in case you don't know it: Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster, but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: WTF Happened To This Horror Movie?

THE DRAWING – Short Horror Film

You ready for some healthy frights? I got your ticket. This week's SHORT HORROR FILM is Dominic Grose's mucho creepy THE DRAWING, starring Christian Grose. Want to know what happens when your artistic vision becomes real? Tap the embed and find out the hard way!

Here’s what Writer/Director Dominic Grose had to say about his film and what's coming next: "I have been making horror shorts since I left University. I wanted to keep active in filmmaking no matter what job I ended up in and the horror genre lends itself well to minimal cast, crew and budget. I have been working from home during the pandemic but I wanted to use any freetime I had productively and when I saw an interesting drawing my brother had done in his sketchbook, my mind started to wander in how to incorporate that into a horror film. My Mum actually ended up doing the artwork for the film though! The idea of a picture or portrait coming to life has been done before so I wanted to put my own spin on it and I hope I achieved that. I have been really taken aback by how many are liking it and what's nice is now my other films are getting more attention as well because of people who enjoyed The Drawing. I am already working on another short I'll be making in my house again and I have a bigger scaled one planned that I am going to shoot at an old manor house, once I can get everyone together safely."

COBRA – Best Horror Movie You Never Saw

Sylvester Stallone is one of cinema's greatest action icons, but he has also made a couple trips into horror territory – like in 1986's COBRA, which is the subject of the new episode of our THE BEST HORROR MOVIE YOU NEVER SAW video series!

Some may debate whether or not COBRA has a place in the horror genre, but I have always considered it to be a horror film. Sure, it is heavy on the action, but it also happens to be about Stallone's cop character Marion "Cobra" Cobretti trying to protect model Ingrid Knudsen (Stallone's then-wife Brigitte Nielsen) from a knife-wielding madman known as the Night Slasher, played by a very intense Brian Thompson. The scenes with the Night Slasher are pure horror, and when Cobra and Ingrid also have to fend off the cult that the killer is in the movie becomes something like RACE WITH THE DEVIL, but with more firepower.

Directed by George P. Cosmatos (who previously worked with Stallone in RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II) from a screenplay Stallone wrote himself, COBRA has the following official synopsis: "Lt. Cobretti is a one-man assault team whose laser-mount submachine gun and pearl-handled Colt .45 spit pure crime-stopping venom! Director George P. Cosmatos teams up again with Stallone for this thriller pitting Cobretti against a merciless serial killer. The trail leads to not one murderer but also an army of psychos bent on slashing their way to a "New Order" – and killing a witness along the way. Fortunately, her protector is Cobra, a man who delivers vigilante justice like no other!"
