Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (21 GRAMS, BIUTIFUL and the upcoming BIRDMAN with Michael Keaton and Edward Norton) might be heading to the jungle. According to Variety, the director is in negotiations to direct a live-action version of THE JUNGLE BOOK for Warner Bros. The site says Inarritu is "very intrigued" by the property, however the studio wanted to talk with him first to make sure he's the right man for the job.

We could be seeing two different adaptations of the Rudyard Kipling book in the near future: Disney announced plans for their own live-action film back in July, with Jon Favreau recently joining the project. Is there enough room in theaters for two live-action versions of THE JUNGLE BOOK though? Disney's adaptation will probably be kid and family friendly, but if Warner Bros. and Inarritu's version has a more adult tone, there should be a big enough audience for both films.

Which version of THE JUNGLE BOOK do you want to see?
