Although I tend to agree with our very own Matt Withers’ assessment of Alexandre Aja’s career taking “significant steps backwards” by subjugating an original voice (HAUTE TENSION) for lucrative Hollywood remakes, I am looking forward to PIRANHA 3-D. I mean, who ’round here isn’t? But I’ve talked to someone in good acquaintance with another who worked on the flick, and for what it’s worth, they said the flick is so terrible it must be seen. What that has to do with the new international poster for the flick is beyond me, but feel free to check it out underneath!
Written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger, PIRANHA 3-D is set in In Lake Havasu, Arizona, when a tremor causes the lake’s floor to open, setting free scores of prehistoric piranhas… Theyre back! Every year the population of sleepy Lake Havasu explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for a single, wild weekend – the 4th of July, a riot of sun, drunken fun and sex-crazed mayhem. But this year, there’s something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers. Havasu sits in the crater formed by a prehistoric volcanic eruption, and when earth tremors tear open a crack in the lake floor, all hell breaks through. Piranhas – a million ravenous, razor-toothed monsters, unchanged since the dawn of time. Can’t really say the new poster is all that impressive. It’s essentially the 3-D logo from the Official Site for the flick, with what appears to be Japanese scrawling. Not too different than one we’ve seen previously.
PIRANHA 3-D, starring Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Eli Roth, Christopher Lloyd, Jessica Szhor, Kelly Brook, Riley Steele (below), Richard Dreyfus and Ving Rhames, chomps on theatergoers August 27th.
