Alice in Wonderland star Mia Wasikowska circling Stoker

ALICE IN WONDERLAND star Mia Wasikowska is apparently being flooded with opportunities nowadays. Makes sense, as with ALICE and awards-darling THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT, young Mia had a very positive 2010.

One of the projects that she’s evidently circling is a very enticing one, called STOKER, that we told you about in July. It was written by Wentworth Miller under the pseudonym Ted Foulke. Last we heard about it, Chan-wook Park himself, director of OLDBOY and THIRST, was considering helming the thriller. Add to that the fact that it’s being produced by Ridley and Tony Scott and has had names like Jodie Foster and Carey Mulligan linked to it, and you’ve got a most curious project in the works.

What’s STOKER about? It revolves around an eccentric teen who, while mourning the death of her father, suddenly must deal with an uncle who mysteriously appears. Once the uncle appears, more people start disappearing, and now you have got yourself a Hitchcockian suspenser. (SHADOW OF A DOUBT, anyone?)

Wasikowska is currently attempting to make her schedule work so that she may do this and another bold-faced project, Jill Hillcoat’s ROAD follow-up THE WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD. These are two of our most interesting directors, so the young girl is definitely making some smart choices, wouldn’t you say?

We’ll let you know if Wasikowska signs on the dotted line. Chan-Wook Park as well, for that matter.
