Are there enough alien invasion films on the horizon? No? Okay good, cuz here’s another one. Via Deadline.com, we learn of a film being prepped by Legendary Pictures called PACIFIC RIM. The sci-fi action film was pitched by Travis Beacham, who co-wrote Legendary’s recent hit CLASH OF THE TITANS.
Set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.
The deal was made on the basis of a detailed 25-page treatment by Beacham, and Legendary is supposedly paying the writer a high six figure salary for the screenplay. This news comes only a few days after it was announced that Legendary Pictures is working on a film version of the video game MASS EFFECT, which also has legions of aliens and the like. The company is also prepping reboots of GODZILLA and SUPERMAN…
I hope Legendary has mad money, because shit’s about to get expensive…
