A few weeks back, I wrote a little article about Bruce Campbell saying he wanted to make a sort of horror movie EXPENDABLES… While we wait for that to arrive, it seems as though someone is already going for it!
The flick in question is THE GATHERING and it features an all-star cast of horror icons: Gunnar Hansen (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, pictured right), Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees/Friday the 13th series), Judith O’Dea (Barbara/Night of the Living Dead), Udo Kier (Blade), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser series) and William Sadler (The Mist). Meanwhile, Robert Englund is evidently circling the project. All they need is Tony Todd and they’ll really be in business.
So what’s THE GATHERING all about? Check it: On All Hallow’s Eve, The Devil has gathered together four of history’s greatest horror writers – Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, H.P. Lovecraft and Mary Shelley – to share their untold scariest story in hopes of winning the evening’s prize; the opportunity to leave purgatory forever.
Gotta say, that’s a great concept. I love anthologies – and with that cast? This could be a home run…
THE GATHERING is being directed by Jon Keeyes (LIVING & DYING), was written by Carl Kirshner and will be produced by Mark Heidelberger and Jesse Felsot of Treasure Entertainment. It’s scheduled for a late 2010 production start. As soon as we hear more about it, we’ll let you in on it.
