The Tick, Amazon, cancelled

Ben Edlund, the creator of Amazon's THE TICK has announced via Twitter that the comedic superhero series has been squashed by the outlet after two seasons.

Starring Peter Serefinowicz as the blue, brawny and often brainless Tick, the show centers around the oddball adventures of the powerful superhero, who fights crime alongside his nebbish sidekick, Arthur (Griffin Newman). Taking place after the fall of The Terror (Jackie Earle Haley), Season 2 of THE TICK found new villains ready to make some noise, and heroes preparing to step up as A.E.G.I.S., the organization that left the city to ruin after the untimely demise of Flag Five. With A.E.G.I.S. back on the scene, it was time for the supergroup to take control of the city away from those who would see it reduced to rubble and ruin.

You can view Edlund's tweets addressing the show's cancellation below:

Executive produced by Edlund, Barry Josephson, and Barry Sonnenfeld, with co-executive production by Kit Boss, THE TICK's second season stars Peter Serefinowicz, Griffin Newman, Valorie Curry, Brendan Hines, Yara Martinez, Scott Speiser, Michael Cerveris, John Pirkis and Alan Tudyk, among others. Sadly, THE TICK will end with the show's Season 2 finale. I'd yell "spoon" to close us out, but seeing as this news is most unfortunate, I'll simply allow my antennae to droop as I slink away into the horizon.
