Congratulations zombie lovers, you’ve been heard!

As a result of setting all-time record ratings for any cable TV program among males 18-49, AMC has just announced plans to serve us flesh-starved patrons a 13-episode second season of The Walking Dead.”

Altogether now…F*CK YES!!!

Demonstrating two weeks in a row what a force the show is to be reckoned with, here’s the demo break-down for last night’s second episode:

• 10pm airing – 3.1 HH rating with over 4.7 million viewers;

• Adults 18-49 – 3.3 million viewers;

• Adults 25-54 – 2.8 million viewers;

• Men 18-49 – 2.1 million viewers.

Such numbers, while down a smidge, rank comparably to the pilot episode from a week earlier:

• 10pm airing – 3.7 HH rating with over 5.3 million total viewers;

• Adults 18-49 – 3.6 million viewers;

• Adults 25-54 – 3.1 million viewers;

• Men 18-49 – 2.0 million viewers;

Again, showing such gaudy numbers…the undead ain’t going anywhere anytime soon. About the achievement so far, SVP Scripted Programming for Fox International Channels Sharon Tal Yguado beamed:

“I wish all programming decisions were no brainers like this one. The Walking Dead is a TV masterpiece on so many levels. We want at least 10 seasons, if not more. Kudos to AMC!”

Kudos indeed. Not just to AMC, but to showrunner Frank Darabont…who has, for a television show, created one of the most well crafted and entertaining narrative serials we’ve seen in some time. Many props sir…keep ’em comin’!
