AMC reveals haunting trailer for second season of The Terror

AMC's The Terror was one of my absolute favourite shows of 2018, so I was quite pleased when they renewed the series for a second season, but there's a twist. The first season dealt with two ships embarking on a perilous voyage into uncharted territory to discover the Northwest Passage. After becoming trapped in the ice, the frozen and isolated crew find themselves faced with treacherous conditions, limited resources, and a deadly unseen terror stalking them. The second season has transformed The Terror into an anthology series as it will feature an entirely new story and cast.

Titled The Terror: Infamy, the new seasons will be set during World War II and will center on a "series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community, and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible." AMC has released the first teaser trailer for the new season, and it looks extremely promising. Shape-shifting spirits plus George Takei? I'm down.

The Terror: Infamy stars Derek Mio (Greek) as Chester Nakayama, a son of Japanese born immigrants who joins the army, Kiki Sukezane (Lost in Space) as Yuko, a mysterious woman from Chester’s past, Cristina Rodlo (Miss Bala) as Luz, Chester’s secret girlfriend. Shingo Usami (Unbroken) as Henry Nakayama, Chester’s father, Naoko Mori (Everest) as Asako Nakayama, Chester’s mother, Miki Ishikawa (9-1-1) as Amy, a Nakayama family friend, C. Thomas Howell (The Punisher) as Retired Major Hallowell Bowen, an official with the War Relocation Authority whose presence looms over the Japanese-American characters in the story, and George Takei (Star Trek) as Yamato-san, a community elder and former fishing captain. Takei also served as a consultant on the series as he was imprisoned as a child in Japanese-American internment camps following the outbreak of World War II. The actor worked closely with the executive producers to ensure the accuracy of historical events and storytelling.

The Terror: Infamy will debut on AMC on August 12, 2019.
