Andrea Riseborough in talks to play villain Top Dollar in The Crow remake

Back when Luke Evans was still attached to THE CROW remake, the actor said the plan was to "be authentic and loyal to the original comic," however one character is apparently getting a sex change. Deadline has learned that OBLIVION and BIRDMAN star Andrea Riseborough is in negotiations to play Top Dollar.

While Top Dollar was just a lowly drug dealer in the comic, in the 1994 movie, he was the head of the crime organization responsible for the deaths of Eric Draven and Shelly Webster, with Michael Wincott starring as the eyeball eating villain. There's no word on if Top Dollar will also be the crime boss in the remake, but I could see Riseborough playing the character similar to Lena Headey's Ma-Ma from DREDD.

Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston is set to play the undead vigilante for director Corin Hardy, and although a couple of months ago it was reported that Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) had been cast as Shelly, there hasn't been an official announcement about the actress joining the project.

THE CROW doesn't have a release date yet, but filming may finally start in the near future, and if it does begin production soon, it will likely open sometime in 2016.
