Anne Hathaway, who was snubbed by the Hollywood Foreign Press for her role in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (co-stars Meryl Street and Emily Blunt were both nominated), has signed on to star in the upcoming thriller PASSENGERS. In the film Hathaway will star as a grief counselor who helps six plane crash survivors. As she becomes romantically involved with one, the others slowly begin to die. Eerieness ensues. Ronnie Christensen, whose previous credits include the NBC disaster miniseries “10.5,” wrote the script with Rodrigo Garcia (NINE LIVES) directing. Production on the film is scheduled to begin next year for Mandate Pictures (STRANGER THAN FICTION) and Sony. Hathaway recently wrapped production on BECOMING JANE and recently signed on to star alongside Steve Carell in GET SMART, which will film next spring while Carell is on hiatus from “The Office.”
