Now that George Romero’s latest zombie incursion has premiered on VOD, SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD is a mere three weeks from getting a theatrical release (May 28th). Makes sense then that we get a little insight into the making of the film via another behind-the-scenes featurette, which we have for you below. Watch out though, this Romero cat’s one goofy mofo!

Why’s that, you may wonder? Just take a look at the guy, it’s clear the dude’s having more fun now than at any other time in his long, illustrious career. Now, if only fun translated to a well crafted film!

Once the hijinx subside(s?), Romero tries to put on a straight face and explain a little about the film, what it’s about, the tone of the picture, details surrounding a certain flashback sequence, etc. He then evokes ZOMBIELAND as a film that put that fun back into zombie killing, thereby admitting that’s kind goal he set out to achieve with his new flick..

Starring Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe, Stefano DiMatteo, Joris Jarsky, Eric Woolfe, Devin Bostick, Athena Karkanis and Richard Fitzgerald, SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD is set on an island off the coast of North America, where local residents simultaneously fight a zombie epidemic while hoping for a cure to return their un-dead relatives back to their human state.
