It was only last Friday that we featured a sweet, highly stylized clip from Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani’s giallo-inspired thriller AMER. And if you were as stoked as I was to see that shite, feel free to feast your eyes on yet another clip from flick we just landed via SXSW.
Although simpler and more drawn out, this clip is twice as long as the last one we saw, yet still retains the tinseled visual panache. Steeped in a hard violet, our ostensible heroine is stalked in bed while sleeping, only to wake up and discover…a.) her window has been breached, b.) some bodily mutilation has taken place while unconscious.

Three key moments, all of them sensual, as they define Ana’s life. Her carnal search sways between reality and colored fantasies becoming more and more oppressive. A black laced hand prevents her from screaming. The wind lifts her dress and caresses her thighs. A razor blade brushes her skin, where will this chaotic and carnivorous journey leave her?
Man, I cannot reiterate how much I wanna see this shite. I’ve been on a steady diet of Italian giallo flicks from the 70s and 80s, having very recently screened Lamberto Bava’s MACABRE and Juan Piquer Simon’s PIECES (the latter obviously being Spanish). I love this type of film. Love it!
Harry Cleven, Bianca Marie D’Amato, Cassandra Foret, Charlotte Eugene Guibeaud, Bernard Marbaix and Jean-Michel Vovk also star.
