Another Straight Outta Compton star joins the cast of Kong: Skull Island

As STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON continues to blow up the box-office, its young cast is having no problems setting up new projects. Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre) has already found himself a role in KONG: SKULL ISLAND and THR reports that he'll soon be joined by another of his STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON co-stars; Jason Mitchell, who played Easy-E in the film, is currently in negotiations to join the cast of KONG: SKULL ISLAND.

Little is known about the characters of KONG: SKULL ISLAND but THR's insider's say that Mitchell will play "an easy going pilot." So far the confirmed cast of the film includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Corey Hawkins, but some of the other names said to be up for roles are Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson, and John C. Reilly, with Toby Kebbell also in negotiations for a role. A week ago Derek Connolly, co-writer of JURASSIC WORLD, was brought in to polish the script for the Jordan Vogt-Roberts film which is looking to begin production in Hawaii by late October.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND follows "a team of explorers who venture into the mysterious, creature-laden isle that is also the home of the king of the apes," and is scheduled for a March 10, 2017 release.
