Ansel Elgort will star in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Sure I was disappointed when Edgar Wright exited ANT-MAN, but at the same time I knew I’d rather see him tackle his own projects as opposed to playing around in someone else’s universe. The next film on the director’s slate, BABY DRIVER, sounds like it will be a perfect fit for his kinetic visuals. Today Variety is reporting that Wright has finally nailed down a lead for the film as Ansel Elgort has signed on to star in the film.

Variety's synopsis:

[The] plot follows a talented, young getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. After being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Ansel Elgort’s involvement came to light earlier in the year but owing to his obligation to the DIVERGENT franchise it’s taken this long to sort out his schedule. BABY DRIVER has been on Wright's mind for years now so it's good to know things are finally moving forward and we'll get to see his vision sooner rather than later.

You can check Ansel Elgort out in INSURGENT, which is in theaters right now! Imagine that.
