Antal chats Predators

One “reboot” that doesn’t outrage me in the least is the upcoming PREDATORS – if only because God knows we deserve to see the Predator be f*cking bad-ass again. I have enough faith in Robert Rodriguez to believe that he grew up loving the first film just as most of us did – and I’m going to guess he thinks the two ALIEN VS. PREDATOR movies suck nuts… just as most of us do.

But the wild card is director Nimrod Antal, who has a new film, ARMORED, coming out this week. He spoke with ComingSoon.net the other day, and no surprise, most of the conversation was about his tackling of the beloved sci-fi property. (Because really, who gives a shit about ARMORED?)

“So far, it’s been great, and I think that the fans who may have been underwhelmed by the last two AVP films, I think they’re in for a very pleasant surprise,” Antal told the site, which is already music to my ears – er – eyes.

A question that surprisingly hasn’t come up that much is whether or not Arnie will be in this installment. Antal, for his part, didn’t let on. “Time will tell. We’ll see, but we are trying to stay with the original as far as the monster and the atmosphere and the tone of the film, but we are trying to do something new and contemporary and feels fresh.”

Well at least he’s saying all the right things; now let’s see if he can deliver. To read the full interview, head on over HERE.

PREDATORS comes out in JULY of 2010.
