Mr Mercedes Stephen King Anton Yelchin Harry Treadaway

Back in May, AT&T's Audience Network ordered a show based on Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes straight to series. The show, which was set to star Brendan Gleeson and Anton Yelchin, was announced one month before Yelchin's untimely death. Mr. Mercedes is finally rolling again, after much deliberation, and the role to be played by Yelchin has been replaced by the 32-year-old Harry Treadaway.

Treadaway, who has been playing Victor Frankenstein on Showtime's Penny Dreadful for three seasons, has also appeared in the horror flicks HONEYMOON, COCKNEYS VS. ZOMBIES, and THE DISAPPEARED, as well as the YA fantasy CITY OF EMBER and Johnny Depp's THE LONE RANGER. He will be playing Brady Hartsfield, "a mentally deranged ice cream truck driver and IT worker who is secretly the Mercedes Killer." Spoiler alert, geez!

Mr. Mercedes centers on a demented killer who taunts a retired police detective with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he can strike again. Gleeson will play Detective Bill Hodges, a retired cop who is driven out of retirement after an old nemesis reappears, while Yelchin will portray Brady Hartsfield, a mentally deranged ice cream truck driver and IT worker for Cyber Patrol (aka Geek Squad) who is secretly the Mercedes Killer.

David E. Kelley is the showrunner on the series, which is slated for a 2018 premiere.
