Antonio Banderas is ready to sit in the director’s chair for SOLO, a film that Variety describes as “a psychological thriller with sci-fi touches”. While the full plot isn’t available yet, it apparently focuses on a Spanish colonel suffering post-conflict trauma.
This isn’t Banderas’ first time behind the camera, although you’ll be forgiven if you don’t remember 1999’s CRAZY IN ALABAMA or 2006’s SUMMER RAIN. No one in the world saw either of those movies, so why should you have?
SOLO was written by Erik Jendresen, who certainly has an interesting filmography; the dude was a writer/producer on HBO’s epic mini-series “Band of Brothers”, but has also toiled in the horror genre with direct-to-DVD flicks like OTIS and SUBLIME.
The film, which will be in English but utilize Spanish actors, aims to shoot next year with a budget of around $14 million. It will eventually hit in 2012.
