Anya Taylor-Joy to star in Edgar Wright’s thriller Last Night in Soho

It seems that our times of endlessly waiting for Edgar Wright's next film may be at an end. Following 2017's BABY DRIVER, the director is already developing his next project, a psychological horror-thriller known as LAST NIGHT IN SOHO. According to Variety, the upcoming film has snagged its first lead as it's been reported that Anya Taylor-Joy has joined the cast.

I've been a huge fan of the actress since being introduced to her in THE WITCH, so the thought of her joining Edgar Wright's next film is quite the treat. When Wright first mentioned LAST NIGHT IN SOHO several weeks ago, he mentioned both Nicolas Roeg's DON'T LOOK NOW and Roman Polanski's REPULSION as influences. "I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years," Wright told Empire. "With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in." Wright co-wrote the script along with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Penny Dreadful), and it's expected that LAST NIGHT IN SOHO this summer. In regards to the role which Anya Taylor-Joy will be playing, there are sadly no details.

Anya Taylor-Joy was most recently seen reprising her role of Casey Cooke for M. Night Shyamalan's GLASS, now playing in theaters, and will next be seen in THE NEW MUTANTS on August 2, 2019, assuming that film is actually released. Taylor-Joy has also joined the fifth season of Peaky Blinders and will be voicing Brea, a Gelfling, in the upcoming DARK CRYSTAL prequel Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
