APARTMENT 143 (pictured above) was a rather average found footage flick released a couple of years back, but it was apparently effective enough to get its director, Carles Torrens, some follow-up work. Per Deadline, Torrens is signing on to direct VISCERAL, based on a script by Brant Hughes.

The project’s plot is being kept under wraps, but a few years ago – when Hughes’ script had a little heat – it was said to revolve around the following:

A college student is held hostage in his car by his schizophrenic professor — who forces him to participate in a seemingly random crime spree. Desperate to save himself, the student is unaware of what’s really behind his captor’s night of violence…and his psychological mindgames.

Solipsist Films (SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR) is producing VISCERAL, which reportedly will cost in the $10-15 million and shoot in New England. When further details emerge, we’ll pass them along.
