Judd Apatow is planning a musical described as an “anti-HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL” and has discovered a relative unknown to write, perform the music and star. Apatow has signed a deal with Bo Burnham, a web-based songwriter/comedian after seeing Burnham perform at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal. While Hollywood might be new to Burnham, he’s got quite the following online with over 3 million views for his latest video (which you can also see below). His YouTube channel is also one of the most subscribed to of all time and his comedy album hit the #6 spot on iTunes, right below Coldplay. Burnham, who just turned 18 this August, will co-write the film with his high school buddy Luke Liacos. Burnham, who has been performing stand-up in New York City this summer, is currently attending NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. The project may take some time to develop as Burnham hasn’t even begun working on the script or songs just yet.
