Under-appreciated (by the general public, not Hollywood – Hollywood loves them some Arkin, as well they should) veteran character actor Alan Arkin has joined Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston in the upcoming dramedy MARLEY & ME. Based on the popular John Grogan novel of the same name and under director David Frankel, Wilson plays a Philadelphia newspaper columnist who, along with his wife (Aniston), decide to adopt the titular pup in order to get a taste of parenthood but get a lot more than they bargained for when they discover Marley is one exorbitantly hyperactive pooch. Arkin will be playing the editor of the newspaper where Wilson’s character works. Arkin was most recently in the political thriller RENDITION and can next be seen in the action comedy GET SMART and the dramedy SUNSHINE CLEANING.
