I heard some rumors about a month ago that things might not be going well in the universe of the ROBOCOP remake. Namely that Darren Aronofsky, who was hired this past summer to direct the “reimagining,” was, let’s say, losing interest in the project. Today Aronofsky called in to the Howard Stern Show to promote THE WRESTLER and when asked about ROBOCOP, Aronofsky said that he was working on the script but that he’s “not sure” if it was still going to happen adding “we’ll see…” Sadly Howard immediately segued into suggesting he be cast as Robocop in the movie and we never got any real follow-up. But it jives with what I’ve heard and word that Aronosfky’s boxing drama THE FIGHTER is heating up. So would you be upset if Aronofsky left ROBOCOP? I’m not saying he’s definitely gone but personally I think it’s for the best. I’m sure after the success of THE WRESTLER Darren is getting all kinds of offers so we’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out.
Aronofsky off Robocop?
