Avatar details?

We’re still almost two years away (December 2009!) from the release of James Cameron’s AVATAR, and while I’m trying to avoid knowing too much about his first project since AQUAMAN, I just can’t help myself.

The website MarketSaw, dedicated to upcoming 3D movies, has a new “inside” report about some of the things Cameron is doing with his $200+ million sci-fi epic, and while the self-proclaimed World King embraces and often creates technology, it seems as though he isn’t going the same route as green-screen addicts like George Lucas (thank Hicks!). Cameron has supposedly been filming in some massive sets built to scale, a welcome approach like in his ALIENS days.

There are a few other details revolving around the title’s significance and the possibility of sentient plants, plus a few other interpretable sideways-spoilers in the report, which you can check out RIGHT HERE if you desperately want to know more.

The story synopsis goes something like this: “In the future, paraplegic war veteran Jake travels to the planet Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na’vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Earthlings find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture.”
