Avatar TV Spot

As we noted yesterday (perhaps unnecessarily), the marketing push for James Cameron’s AVATAR is in full force. In the last week it seems we’ve caught trailers, posters, pictures, a new website, a behind the scenes featurette, the works. What we haven’t seen, until now that is, is a national TV spot for the film. Have a look below!

What’s pretty interesting about the spot is the way in which it assumes the absence of Cameron in the last dozen years has made us forget what the man has accomplished. The short clip literally superimposes titles from Cameron’s celebrated canon, including everything from THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, TERMINATOR 2, hell even TRUE LIES before getting to the inevitable TITANIC.

I guess studio brass thought, as articulated in the immortal words of Wayne Gayle of NATURAL BORN KILLERS (Robert Downey Jr.): “you think those nitwits in zombieland remember anything? Repetition works, Davey!”

Funny how Downey says that line about Zombieland when conducting an interview with, who else, the star of what would be the real ZOMBIELAND some 15 years later (Woody Harrelson).

Take a peek at the quick spot underneath, and remember AVATAR hits screens on December 18th.
