Back to the Future cast reunites

Last Updated on February 23, 2023

The Delorean seems to still be working because there was a major blast from the past over the weekend, as the main cast from Back to the Future reunited at FAN EXPO Portland.

Lea Thompson, who played Lorraine Baines-McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy, posted on her Instagram a series of photos with her co-stars: Michael J. Fox (Marty McFly), Christopher Lloyd (Emmett “Doc” Bedrowd n) and Thomas F. Wilson (Biff Tannen). She captioned the collection, “Wow honestly had the best time today with my #bttf family” before tagging the aforementioned co-stars and others. Thompson also showed off other pictures from the event, including a new Funko Pop! for her collection: a custom Lorraine Baines.

Accompanying videos showed Thompson with both Lloyd and Wilson. In her interaction with Wilson, who played one of the movies’ greatest jerks, praised Thompson with, “I love this lady. It’s so great eto see you. It’s so fabulous.” Thompson then practically begged to be insulted by Wilson, prodding him with, “I’m a butthead, right?” Yeah, and what are you looking at, Lea?

This isn’t the first time members of the Back to the Future gang have reunited. On a smaller scale–but in a still quite touching scene–Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd did so at last year’s New York Comic Con. It made for one of the most feel-good pop culture moments of 2022, giving Fox another heartwarming and inspirational one for him as of late. A recent documentary on Fox, Still, has earned major praise since its Sundance Film Festival debut this year.

Back to the Future is a touchstone of ‘80s cinema. Not only did it spawn a successful trilogy, but retrospective lists have also commonly ranked it as one of the greatest movies ever. The American Film Institute even ranked it as the 10th greatest sci-fi movie ever. In 2007, it was selected to be part of the National Film Registry.
