A few months ago, actor Anthony Carrigan – who plays NoHo Hank on the HBO dark comedy crime series Barrysaid that season 4 would be the show’s final season. We didn’t doubt Carrigan, but we still needed HBO to officially confirm that Barry was wrapping up… and now that confirmation has come. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that HBO announced the eight episode fourth season of Barry is the end.

Star Bill Hader, who created Barry with Alec Berg, provided the following statement: “It’s been an amazing journey making this show, and it’s bittersweet that the story has come to its natural conclusion.

HBO’s Amy Gravitt added: “After three masterful seasons of Barry, we are eager for viewers to see the powerful, complex and hilarious conclusion to Barry Berkman’s story. It has been a pleasure working with this immensely talented team including Bill Hader, Alec Berg, Aida Rodgers and the entire exceptional cast and crew.

Barry tells the following story: Barry, a disillusioned hit man, is sent to Los Angeles to kill an aspiring actor who is having an affair with a Chechen mob leader’s wife; after following his target to an acting class, Barry becomes inspired to begin a new life with the students. Here’s the synopsis for season 3 (read our review HERE): Desperate to leave his violent past behind in favor of his newfound passion, Barry is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But getting out is messy. While Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play. What is it about his own psyche that led him to become a killer in the first place? Season three finds Barry and the other characters trying to make the right choice.

Hader and Carrigan are joined in the cast by Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, Henry Winkler, D’Arcy Carden, Michael Irby, and Sarah Burns.

Barry season 4 is set to make its debut on April 16th.
