Sunday night's Batwoman finally answered the question about what happened to Kate Kane? Ruby Rose vacated the role of Kate Kane/Batwoman before the start of season two and was replaced by Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, the new Batwoman. Leslie is still donning the cape and cowl but last night's episode set up the new Kate Kane who will now be played by Wallis Day.

The second half of the season will reveal where Kate has been, and what that means for her character moving forward. At the end of last night's episode, the audience discovers that Kate Kane is alive but unrecognizable due to injuries she sustained in the crash. She is bandaged and being held hostage and this opens the door for Day to step in as an altered version of Kate Kane.

When Rose decided to leave Batwoman before its second season, sources, via "Variety", revealed that the show simply wasn't the right fit for its star & the production. Rose was unhappy with the long hours required of her as a series lead, which led to a lot of friction on set. As this tension escalated, it was decided by her, the network, and studio, Warner Bros. Television, that a parting of ways was best. To Rose's credit, she has had nothing but nice things to say about the show since her departure and when Javicia Leslie was cast as the new Batwoman, Rose paid tribute to her via an Instagram post and welcomed her to the role.

As for Wallis Day, the British born actress Wallis Day was once one of the leads in Krypton and her other TV credits include Jekyll and HydeCasanova, and The Royals. Day recently wrapped on the feature film Infinite directed by Antoine Fuqua where she stars opposite Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
