Bay heads to future

JoBloJoBlo

As Michael Bay wraps up work on this summer’s TRANSFORMERS he’s already looking into the future – way into the future. The director is set to reteam with his TRANSFORMERS writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to adapt 2012, the upcoming sci-fi novel from Whitley Strieber. The film follows the events in…2012 (duh) when a scientist opens up a portal to another dimension and teams up with his double to stop an apocalypse predicted by the Mayans. Uhm….okaaaay…?. Sounds a little far-fetched but this is a Michael Bay movie after all (and Strieber’s work was the inspiration for THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW). Warner Bros. acquired the rights to 2012 on Friday and have been working over the weekend to negotiate with Bay and his team. Orci and Kurtzman are quickly becoming the hottest screenwriters in town with MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE III, TRANSFORMERS and STAR TREK XI as their last three films. The two writers would also produce the film with Bay.
