Just last week a pretty impressive first trailer for Mauro Borrelli’s horrific sci-fi mind-f*ck BOX OF SHADOWS hit the wire. A week or so before that, we saw a grip of production stills from the flick. So, in terms of promo pimage, what the hell is the next logical step? A clip from the movie? Not quite. A cool little behind-the-scenes featurette for the film? Ding Ding Ding!
Before we get into the content of the featurette, let’s revisit the overall gist of the picture, shall we:
BOX OF SHADOWS centers around a group of college friends, who discover a 15th century coffin that allows them to experience the world as ghosts. While their first adventures in the spirit world are playful and innocent, the “Box of Shadows” soon brings out the group’s most dangerous impulses and desires. The friends find themselves pulled into a world of evil where they learn the line between life and death is there for a reason.
I’ve said it prior, and I’ll reiterate it now. I quite dig this premise, not only does it potentially blur the line between the real and unreal, it plays to the sympathies of the afterlife in a way that makes ghosts more than just a threatening force. Which is something we don’t often see, horror movie or no (THE LOVELY BONES doesn’t really count, does it?!?)
Now in the featurette below, we get to hear from the main the stars of the film, including Aaron Dean Eisenberg, Liz Fenning, J. Walter Holland, and Domiziano Arcangeli. They offer a general rundown of the film, how using the “Box of Shadows” actually becomes addicting over time and how the overuse of the box actually sets in motion a series of chaotic events.
Open the BOX OF SHADOWS July 2nd!
The hottie above is Edurne Ganem, who can be seen in BOX OF SHADOWS!
