Disney Channel star turned genre regular Bella Thorne is adding yet another horror project to her filmography, signing on to take the lead in director Scooter Corkle's THE FRIENDSHIP GAME.

Written by Damien Ober, who has worked on the Netflix series The OA, THE FRIENDSHIP GAME is a sci-fi horror story that will follow

a group of teens in a small town as they come across a strange object that tests their loyalties to each other with increasingly destructive consequences the deeper into the game they go.

That simple synopsis doesn't do much for me, but maybe this will seem more appealing when more details are revealed.

Filming begins in Vancouver this August. In the meantime, CAA and 13 Films will be presenting the project to potential buyers at the Cannes Film Festival.

THE FRIENDSHIP GAME is being produced by Daniel Bekerman of Scythia Films, with Thorne and Ober serving as executive producers alongside Gabriel Chicoine, Zak Kilberg of Social Construct Films, and Tannaz Anisi and Greg Schenz of 13 Films.
