If you’ve been feeling an eerie sense of deja vu every time you’ve seen a trailer for Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming CG animated fantasy adventure BEOWULF, it’s probably because they’ve skewed suspiciously close to the 300 trailers, from the use of contemporary metal to the brutal, stylistic, fantastical imagery and even the main character yelling something in an authoritative man-voice – while in 300, the declamation was more of a geographically centered intimidation, in BEOWULF, it’s a more personal self-acknowledgment.
But don’t take our word for it. Check out FXrant’s nice breakdown of exactly how similar the trailers are by clicking on any of those brooding heroes below. Hey, why dick with a winning formula, right? BEOWULF opens November 16th.
