Bill Murray acting like a jerk, holding up Ghostbusters 3

Bill Murray, why you gotta be the turd in the punchbowl?

According to gossip columnist Mike Walker (via the Howard Stern show, via Bloody Disgusting), Murray is making a difficult situation even more difficult in regards to GHOSTBUSTERS 3. The man is evidently a real cranky-pants (pardon the foul language); despite the fact that Venkman isn’t meant to be a main character (we all know by now that he becomes a ghost), Murray isn’t playing nice with others.

Here’s the skinny: Dan Aykroyd called ‘ol pal and Ghostbusters co-star Bill Murray and snarled ‘stop acting like a jerk’, ” Walker reported. “Murray, despite agreeing to doing the film, has suddenly turned so cranky and mean [that] he refuses to answer phone calls.”

Said a source, “Producers gave Bill script approval needed for his cooperation, but that cant even seem to get him on the phone to talk about the script. He’s even told ’em that his character needs to be killed off in the opening minutes of the film.”

This doesn’t help the film any, as Sony and Ivan Reitman are trying to resolve their own conflict. Something tells me we won’t be seeing GHOSTBUSTERS 3 move forward anytime soon.
