Black Panther’s success helped Spawn reboot, says Jamie Foxx

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The Todd McFarlane-helmed SPAWN reboot has had a longer and more arduous journey through development hell than the character did in actual Hell! It's been over two decades since the original 1997 film starring Michael Jai White hit theaters, and McFarlane has been touting his darker, grittier version for about that long!

But hey, gotta hand it to the guy, it looks like the film finally has some real momentum! For one, Jason Blum of Blumhouse has recently said the project is picking up steam (though keeping the details vague). Secondly, actor Jamie Foxx just did an interview with Yahoo! for his upcoming Netflix film PROJECT POWER, and eventually stated for the record that he's still attached to the SPAWN film, contributing the push for the film on the monumental success of BLACK PANTHER, another Black superhero:

I surprised Todd McFarlane, I said, ‘Bro, I know that one day you will do this movie, and I hope you will keep me in mind.’ What Black Panther did was let us know that it’s so necessary, and it’s the time. And Spawn is just an interesting character in itself. The heads that are being put together to bring you something special – look out.

So what do you guys think? Do you think this project will ever see the light of day – success of BLACK PANTHER or no? Either way, sound off below!
