It’s not often we show you set photos from a film that has yet to be fully cast, but given everything we know about the production of MEN IN BLACK III, nothing about this sucker even remotely reeks of typical.
THR now has it that Michael Stuhlbarg (A SERIOUS MAN, “Boardwalk Empire”) has been added to the cast of Barry Sonnenfeld’s MEN IN BLACK III. He’ll play a character named Griffin, a part Sharlto Copley was long attached to play. Word is Copley is out, Stuhlbarg is in!
Stuhlbarg’s involvement is a good one, I’d imagine. The dude has made an seamless transition from stage to screen, having worked with the likes of Joel and Ethan Coen, Ridley Scott, and most recently Marty Scorsese, not only on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” but on HUGO CABRET as well. The man can certainly act!
As you probably know, Stuhlbarg (seen above) joins Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Alice Eve (below), Emma Thompson, Josh Brolin, Gemma Arterton, Betty White and Nicole Scherzinger. Here’s what little we know about the film:
In addition to Smith as Agent J, Tommy Lee Jones reprises his role as the wisecracking Agent K in the present (the part already shot). Josh Brolin, through a time-travel twist, plays a young Agent K from 1969 who encounters countercultural figures such as Andy Warhol and Yoko Ono.
MEN IN BLACK III (3D) rolls out May 25, 2012.
