The Book of Boba Fett trailers have only shown footage from the opening minutes

The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars, spoilers

Disney typically goes all out when it comes to keeping spoilers contained; in some cases, such as The Mandalorian, they’ve been very successful, but we’ve seen what happens when leaks just keep spreading, like what’s currently happening with Spider-Man: No Way Home. The release of The Book of Boba Fett is just a couple of weeks away and Disney naturally wants to keep the surprises of their latest Star Wars series under wraps. To that end, it seems that all of the trailers for The Book of Boba Fett have only contained footage from the opening minutes of the first episode in order to keep spoilers at bay.

While speaking with THR, The Book of Boba Fett director Robert Rodriguez said that producers have deliberately only used footage from the opening of the first episode. “We can’t use the second half of the first episode because it gives so much away,” Rodriguez said. I admire and appreciate the restraint. What we do know about the series is that it will find Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) taking over the crime syndicate once ruled by Jabba the Hutt, but there are plenty of surprises in store. Robert Rodriguez teased that “Things turn up you don’t expect, you see things we couldn’t believe we got to do. Every episode has big surprises.” Much like the familiar faces who turned up in The Mandalorian, it seems that we can expect the same from The Book of Boba Fett.

Robert Rodriguez added that they’re using The Godfather and King Conan as inspiration. “Boba bites off more than he can chew, and we definitely do not make it easy for him,” Rodriguez said. “It’s easy to sit on the throne; it’s not easy to stay on. So what’s it like for a bounty hunter to have to suddenly become a leader? Where’s the push and pull in that? What is he trying to become? We really go in-depth into the character.

The official synopsis for The Book of Boba Fett:

The Book of Boba Fett, an exciting Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian,” finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.
