When Joe Carnahan's Boss Level comes to Hulu on March 5, 2021, Frank Grillo fans are about to see the action star level-up in new and exciting ways.
Starring Frank Grillo, Mel Gibson, and Naomi Watts, elements of Boss Level act like a live-action video game, with Grillo's character stuck in a time loop, one where assassins are on a relentless rampage and death doesn't necessarily mean the end of a very otherworldly ordeal.

Trapped in a time loop that constantly repeats the day of his murder, former special forces agent Roy Pulver (Frank Grillo) uncovers clues about a secret government project that could unlock the mystery behind his untimely death. In a race against the clock, Pulver must hunt down Colonel Ventor (Mel Gibson), the powerful head of the government program, while outrunning skilled ruthless assassins determined to keep him from the truth in order to break out of the loop, save his ex-wife (Naomi Watts) and live once again for tomorrow.
"I wanted to look like a character in a video game, that was the theory," Grillo recently told Entertainment Weekly. "I went on a crazy diet for four months, I lifted weights three times a day, I got myself down to about four percent body fat and then I realized, why am I doing this? Why does this character need to look like this? But it was too late."

Joining Grillo, Gibson, and Watts for Carnahan's latest are Michelle Yeoh, Ken Jeong, Annabelle Wallis, Will Sasso, Meadow Williams, Mathilde Ollivier, Selina Lo, Tyler Jon Olson, Sheaun McKinney, and John Cenatiempo, among others. In addition to his directorial duties, Carnahan also wrote the screenplay with Chris Borey and Eddie Borey. Meanwhile, Carnahan, Frank Grillo, Randall Emmett, and George Furla all helped produce the upcoming film.
"It's a full-blown action movie, it's funny, and then it becomes a bit dramatic," says Grillo, who is aware that time loop movies can often become confusing. "You don't get bored at any time," he told EW. "Joe did it in a way that worked."
With films like The A-Team, The Grey, and Smokin' Aces under his belt, I'm excited to see how hard Boss Level hits action fans when it begins streaming on Hulu on March 5, 2021. I know that I'll be checking this one out. Will you?
