Brian K. Vaughan is a name that rings out much more for comic geeks than it does for a guy like me. I recognize the name because he worked on “Lost” for a couple seasons, but he’s most known for books like “Y: The Last Man”, “Ex Machina”, “Runaways”, and “Pride of Baghdad”. Well, looks as though the man is ready to take on the film world with a screenplay that just went out called THE VAULT.
Here’s the rundown: A post-apocalyptic heist movie involving the real-world Doomsday Vault in the Arctic, The Vault is Ocean’s 11 meets 2012/Children of Men. When a terrifying plague destroys crops and causes starvation on a global scale, the world’s greatest thief must break into the extremist-controlled Doomsday Vault to steal the one seed that could prevent the extinction of the human race.
Sounds friggin’ awesome, if you ask me. Now the thing to note is, this screenplay is currently out to studios and production companies, so it hasn’t been picked up yet. Why am I writing about it then? Because it’s already making waves and its purchase by a studio seems inevitable. This here is just a heads up so you’re in the know. And that’s what we’re all about here!
