Bruce Campbell wants a role in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange sequel

The legendary Bruce Campbell looks to have his eye on landing a role in an upcoming entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I don't think he's going to have to lobby very hard for it. His longtime pal and frequent collaborator Sam Raimi recently confirmed that he will indeed be directing the DOCTOR STRANGE sequel DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, and Campbell reacted to the news by taking to his Twitter account and saying,

Huh. Surely, there must be SOME character to challenge the good Doctor…

The implication being that he'd like to challenge the Doctor himself. Campbell may not end up playing the lead villain (it would be awesome if he did), but I'm sure Raimi will be glad to put him in the film somewhere. And it's always great to see Campbell show up on the screen.

Raimi and Campbell have been friends since they met in high school and started making Super 8 movies together. Campbell took the lead role in Raimi's feature debut THE EVIL DEAD – and his character Ash Williams has gone on to become an iconic horror hero over the course of two sequels and three seasons of a TV series. Campbell has also appeared in Raimi's films CRIMEWAVE, DARKMAN, and OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, and when Raimi directed a trilogy of SPIDER-MAN films for Sony he gave Campbell memorable cameos in all three of those movies.

Raimi will be directing DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS from a screenplay written by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron.

Benedict Cumberbatch is on board to reprise the role of Doctor Strange, and he'll be joined in the cast by Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor as returning characters Wong and Mordo. Cumberbatch's AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS: ENDGAME co-star Elizabeth Olsen will also be joining the action as her super-powered character Scarlet Witch, as the story is tied in with her Disney+ series WandaVision.

And hopefully Campbell will be in the movie as well.

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS is set to reach theatres on November 5, 2021.
