Who is Superman without Lex Luthor? For some, he might be the essential Supes villain. Luthor’s personality makes a story worth reading. What will he say this time? What could he possibly have up his sleeve? Why is he such a self-involved dick? He’s a character we love to hate and vice versa.
Recently there was a rumor that Mark Strong and Bryan Cranston were contenders for the baddie role. While many of us praise Cranston for his work on BREAKING BAD especially since he’s shown that he can play such a role, it’s much easier to see someone like Strong take on Luthor.
Cranston is the first to comment on the rumor:
Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he’s misunderstood. He’s a loveable, sweet man.
I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is that Cranston is lacking when it comes to the criteria an actor must have to play the role. He’s a fantastic actor and pulls off that bald look like no other. Doesn’t matter to me if he lands it or not, I’ll still be purchasing a ticket to see SUPERMAN and BATMAN beat the shit out of each other.
