CBS’ legal drama Bull is reaching its ending with season 6. It has been announced that the current season of the series will be its last. The series star Michael Weatherly confirmed the news on his Twitter page.

There are 12 episodes left in the current season and the series finale is expected to air in May. Following Weatherly’s announcement on Twitter, CBS also confirmed the news in the following statement:

“For six seasons, Bull has established itself as a ratings winner with its fresh take on the judicial process never before seen on television. We extend our thanks to the talented cast, Michael Weatherly, Geneva Carr, Yara Martinez, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Christopher Jackson, MacKenzie Meehan, the incredible creative team led by Kathryn Price, and Nichole Millard, and our hardworking crew, for bringing to life these innovative stories. We also thank our loyal viewers and look forward to providing them with a final run of compelling episodes filled with the humor, intelligence, and twists that have made the drama a fan favorite.”

Despite the success of Bull at CBS, it has been a bit of a rocky run for the legal drama. The series was set up as a star vehicle for Michael Weatherly after he ended a lengthy run on NCIS. The series was a quick ratings hit and it has remained a solid performer, despite airing in three different time slots.

The shine began to come off a bit when Weatherly became the center of controversy over sexual harassment allegations made by former co-star Eliza Dushku. The actress appeared in the final three episodes of the first season in a recurring role that was intended to become a regular role in Season 2. However, following a complaint Dushku made about Weatherly making sexually suggestive comments, she was fired. In December 2018, The New York Times reported that CBS reached a confidential settlement with Dushku which would pay her $9.5 million, her anticipated salary over four seasons as a regular cast member. Following this, Showrunner Glenn Gordon Caron and original cast member Freddy Rodriguez left last season following a workplace investigation.

Bull was created by Phil McGraw and Paul Attanasio and is inspired by McGraw’s early career. The series follows the employees at Trial Analysis Corporation, a jury-consulting firm headed by Dr. Jason Bull (Weatherly), a psychologist and trial-science expert. The series also stars Geneva Carr, Christopher Jackson, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Annabelle Attanasio, Mackenzie Meehan, and Yara Martinez.
