Caesar faces off against The Colonel in War for the Planet of the Apes clip

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

With the arrival of The Colonel (Woody Harrelson), an iron-fisted soldier obsessed with wiping out the apes, Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his tribe have never been in more danger. The upcoming WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES has already garnered some very positive early reactions, and I've got my fingers crossed that it will close out a near-perfect APES trilogy. Neither RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES nor DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES have given us a full-blown major human villain, so it will be a thrill to see what Woody Harrelson can do with the sinister Colonel. 20th Century Fox have released a new clip from the film, featuring a meeting between the two leaders.

"I came for you."

I'm not entirely certain whether Caesar will surive the events of WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, but director Matt Reeves has said that the film will follow Caesar's rise to "mythic" status. "The movie is totally about his mythic ascension," Reeves said. "The battle for his soul that cements his position as the key figure in early Ape history. You can imagine the story of him would inspire religions."

The official synopsis for WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES:
