Veteran actor Toby Jones has signed on to co-star in CAPTAIN AMERICA as Arnim Zola, a mad scientist working for the Nazis. In the comics, Zola worked with Hitler specializing in genetics and cloning. Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) financed a good deal of Zola’s experiments including the creation of android Primus (I have no idea if this is part of the script, I’m just adding some background here). Zola is perhaps best known for experimenting on himself, creating a robot body for himself that allowed him to live well past the war.
It’s unclear whether Jones will be playing Zola simply in his scientist form or he’ll have his entire weirdo robot body (that includes a giant head where the stomach would be). Jones, who should’ve been nominated for an Oscar for his performance in INFAMOUS, can be seen next in the comedy YOUR HIGHNESS. With Jones joining the cast, we still haven’t heard word on whether the Tommy Lee Jones rumors are true or not but I’m sure we’ll hear more soon as the June start date is right around the corner…
