Carrie Fisher passes away at age 60

Carrie Fisher, flying from from London to Los Angeles this past Friday, went into cardiac arrest just minutes before touching down. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and treated for the heart attack over the weekend. There had been little news to report over the last few days but Carrie ultimately succumbed early this morning.

Family spokesman Simon Halls on Carrie Fisher‘s passing:

It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.



Carrie Fisher will be forever remembered as an icon – our princess from a galaxy far, far away. She’s played a wonderful plethora of bit parts over the years in classics like THE BLUES BROTHERS and WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, showed up on television, written several books and even reunited with Harrison Ford in last year’s STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. She was very upfront about her life and in turn, respected for honest demeanor. Suffice it to say that she was a pleasure to experience on and off the screen.

I know we all were pulling for Carrie this past weekend, so this loss will be felt for some time. Our hearts and thoughts go out to her family, her friends, and everyone else who’s been touched by her time here on Earth. Rest in peace, Carrie.
