Carrie Fisher to receive posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Star Wars Day

The late Carrie Fisher will finally receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, six years after passing away.

Carrie Fisher Walk of Fame

May the force be with her… Carrie Fisher will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 4th, also known as Star Wars Day, more than six years after her death.

Carrie Fisher will receive the 2,754th star on the Walk of Fame, joining fellow Star Wars icons Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. Building on this, Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez stated in the official release, “Fans will be over the moon to know that their favorite movie princess, Carrie Fisher will be honored with her star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame! Carrie will join her Star Wars co-stars and fellow Walk of Famers Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford on this historic sidewalk. I am happy to add that her star is just a few feet away from the star of Mark Hamill and across the street from the star of her legendary mother Debbie Reynolds!” And now it’s time to admit that there are far too few Star Wars performers on the Walk of Fame.

While no speakers have been officially announced, Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd (who actually auditioned for Rey, another barrier-breaking female character in the Star Wars universe), will be accepting the honor on her behalf. One can only hope that the likes of some of her biggest supporters, like Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, would attend. The event will be livestreamed on the Walk of Fame’s official website.

The tease of Carrie Fisher receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame goes back to 2021, although this never came to fruition. Prior to this, fans created a makeshift tribute on a blank star. That same year, Ewan McGregor (young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequel trilogy) was also supposed to receive a star. His predecessor, Alec Guinness, however, was honored all the way back in 1960, when McGregor was just a wee lad.

In addition to joining her mother (who died just one day after her daughter), Carrie Fisher will also join her father, singer and actor Eddie Fisher, who actually has two stars on the Walk of Fame.
