Back in August, we brought you the news that Danielle Harris had signed on for SHIVER, a thriller based on the book by Brian Harper. Today we learn that Casper Van Dien and Rae Dawn Chong are also in the cast. (Initially it appeared as though Luke Goss was in the flick, but looks like he’s out and Casper is in.)
John Jarrett, who portrayed a psycho in WOLF CREEK once again goes bad in SHIVER as a decapitation-loving serial killer. Harris, in an interview with Fangoria, talked about staying away from the bloke while on set, the better to help her get into character: “This is actually the first time I’ve chosen to be a bit more Method. Normally, the [actors playing the] bad guys become my friends and we hang out in the makeup trailer in between chasing and death scenes, but I really can’t do that this time around. I have to keep my personal relationship separate from him, get into character and stay there in order for me to have that come across on screen.”
Here’s what SHIVER is about: Wendy Alden, a young, attractive secretary lacking in self- confidence and self-esteem becomes victim of a savage killer who has claimed the lives of a number of other women. Somehow Wendy finds resources of courage to fight back and escape.
Obsessed with killing Wendy, Franklin Rood, the killer, penetrates a police cordon set up to guard her by Det. Tony Delgado, the detective investigating the case. Again, she manages to escape, earning not only Rood’s grudging respect, but his twisted sense of love.
